The Meatwave

Holy Meatrimony

Holy Meatrimony

When I scheduled a Meatwave a weekend before I was to get married, I got more than a few people deeming me certifiably insane. I was warned that a week before the big day was going to be crazy, and I'd be far too busy to be bothering myself with meat. I say the meat stops for nothing, and the meat went on, wedding or not!

Ok, I admit, it was a little crazy and stressful the weekend prior to our wedding, but I saw the Meatwave as the perfect chance to trick enlist our closest meat-loving friends to help us finish-up our last minute projects. Short on time, I made the menu simple: hot dogs, hamburgers, and corn. In the middle of always trying to cook new recipes and out-do myself, I sometimes forget how comforting a classic cookout can be.

The burgers were juicy, the corn was sweet, and the dogs plump. All of these came together for a very pleasing day of eating. Since I was busy with wedding crafting, I neglected taking photos, so this was the best I could do as a visual...you'll just have to imagine the rest.

Luckily our super friends Daphne and Blair not only came out to pitch-in, but also had a bag of beautiful greens to throw on the grill. Brushed with some oil, salt and pepper, we grilled off a large bunch of green onions and asparagus, which added healthy side to the Meatwave that is usually absent.

Again, short of pictures, I wish I could have shown all of our great friends who came out to help us out, but I guess you all know who you are. With all of your help, we put together the perfect wedding the following weekend, but more importantly, we put down some excellent meat at the Meatwave.
